This week’s weeknotes comes from the couch after a long day, an even longer week and an allergy medicine–induced stupor. A bit of Thai food in the stomach has made the evening smoother and allows me to get into what’s happened this week.

In a word, or rather, a URL, sitby.us. We finally launched our mobile web app that we’re hoping will be useful for South By Southwest Interactive.

We’ve seen an encouraging adoption rate that’s remarkable, and we believe it’ll grow more as the weeks and days countdown towards the event itself in March. We’re pretty happy with how much feedback we’ve received via Twitter (where all the action seems to be these days), and ReadWriteWeb wrote us up in a nice little article that also appeared republished in the New York Times. Chuffed, I like to say. In addition to the @sitbyus Twitter account, we set up a Tumblr blog at blog.sitby.us as a quick, easy and convenient way to post status updates, any development changes and service interruptions. The latter we hope won’t happen; though, we had a brief service outage right around when the ReadWriteWeb article hit — not entirely our fault as we’re hosted and using Google’s App Engine. More on the development from Scott in a separate entry.

That and another client have taken up most of the week for me.

The blanks are filled in with looking at work inquiries and seeing timelines that are tight and unfortunately (or fortunately for us) not in line with our current availability. We have to pass. Things will calm down some after SXSWi, and we’re hoping some of the seeds that we’re hoping to sow will bear some fruit in the months to come. We’re always looking for interesting projects and collaborators.

Culture and health have been steady and good. I’ve always disliked being on chat programs but as the studio is all on Skype and has a chat feature built in, it allows an additional mode of communication that brings us together in a different way and is a decent substitute to being in a space physically and geographically together. Since my Skype usage is limited to mostly work, it’s been non-invasive and I like it quite a bit.

A revelation came this week on Monday when Jen and I were out and about for a bit and decided to grab some lunch at Cheese Plus, a lovely cheese shop in Nob Hill where I caught a glance at the sandwich board they had above their deli area. It was a beautiful day then — t-shirt weather — and so we got two sandwiches and ate outside. The sandwiches were amazingly good. Jen had one called Happy Thanksgiving, comprised of thick slabs of Brie, cranberry sauce, arugula and turkey. I had the Nob Hill sandwich which found roast beef, arugula, a Gorgonzola mascarpone spread, tomatoes and balsamic caramelized onions sandwiched in the omnipresent sourdough.

That made my week.
