Weightshift / Design, Development, Content & Ideation

This is becoming a bad habit. Letting these weeknotes slide a few days late. Time has been a bit thrown off for me since returning from Austin. A quiet spell here as we’re all heads down with work.

We’re in the buildout phase with one of our clients — in the nitty gritty of things as it were, merging the design with the content and the backend. It gets messy when these things merge but it’s to be expected and we’ve got a great handle on things. Scott has been stellar in wrangling it all and putting everything in its place.

We’ve got data to look from SitBy.Us. And we have plans for doing something useful with it. Stay tuned on that.

A few ideas have been thrown around for future potential things to build and make and create. A few solid possibilities, a few uncertain ones and all would get done if we had nothing else to do but that’s not the case. Therefore we prioritize and see what has potential. The oddest part about this is that you never know what might truly take off. Everything is an experiment.

A little late. In fact, into the next week. The reason: South By Southwest, of course. Andrew, Scott and I all returned last week, staggered in our departure. I left a day early, Andrew the day after that and Scott the day after Andrew. The weekend has passed and we reconvened today for this week.

This week’s weeknote is coming a little early. Three-quarters of Weightshift will be in Austin for the next few days for South By Southwest Interactive. Jen is staying in SF to handle the Animal Parade but more importantly, the small day-to-day operations.

I wish I could say more, but we’ve been gearing up for this for a few weeks now. The most exciting thing for us is to see SitBy.Us being used in the wild. Not only that, but to see the primary function being used.

If you’re at SXSW, come say hello to me, Scott or Andrew. We’ll have special glow-in-the-dark buttons, SitBy.Us buttons, stickers and business cards.

What I thought was going to be a quiet week actually turned out to be quite the opposite. We worked harder, longer and more productively than I thought. That shouldn’t really be surprising anymore. A good chunk was dedicated to SitBy.Us as we head into the week that ends with the kick-off of South By Southwest and the other was on Friday, when I had the chance to play Layer Tennis again.

This Recently is a bit late but in some ways, timely.

It’s all heads down here, as we arrive at the end of February, the shortest month of the year. February somehow always goes by in a flash and I never understand why or how this is so, despite being only two days shorter than any other month. An illusion of time.

The biggest thing that happened outwardly this week? We opened up the shop for business.

This week’s weeknotes comes from the couch after a long day, an even longer week and an allergy medicine–induced stupor. A bit of Thai food in the stomach has made the evening smoother and allows me to get into what’s happened this week.

In a word, or rather, a URL, sitby.us. We finally launched our mobile web app that we’re hoping will be useful for South By Southwest Interactive.

Maybe busy is the norm these days but that’s a good thing. So I won’t talk about it, though I suppose I already have.

Fever Pitch
South by Southwest is coming up fast. With the ever increasing popularity of Twitter, it seems easier to gauge the pulse of those in your internet circle. A lot of first-timers seem to be attending this year which I take as a good sign. Alongside the super-packed and stacked schedule, this year’s SXSWi should be a good one. I’m excited to see friends I don’t get to see too often and who live on the other coast or in-between and the friends I’ve gotten to know online but haven’t yet met.

Busy. In a word, the best way to explain this week. The weeks have been packed since the beginning of the year. It’s a good kind of busy though — no time to read feeds, just a quick sweep two or three times a day at Twitter, but mostly time is spent in applications, communicating, solving problems, creating solutions.
